FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
Can I work while I am studying ?
Not true. First of all Malaysia is an Asian country. So don’t expect Western culture and norms. Malaysia, just like Sri Lanka does not have a culture of part time work. If you are to work, it is expected that, you work full time. So we don’t encourage students to seek work during academic studies. That being said there are a lot of opportunities to work after the graduation. Most universities actively bring prospective employers to the university for recruitment fairs. Students, including international students, can correspond with them and find opportunities in those companies.
I have to start and finish the whole course in Malaysia?
Not true. Most of our partners are branch campuses of universities in Western countries. They offer you the opportunity to transfer and remain in the parent university for most of the courses.
My degree certificate will show the country where I studied?
No. Even though you studied in Malaysia the certificate will be issued by the parent campus. It will not show where you have studied.
Malaysia is a Muslim majority country. Therefore religious laws are applied to all?
Not true. Malaysia is not as conservative as other similar nations. Religious laws are enforced mostly on the Malay – Muslim population only. Vast majority of the private universities are operated by ethnic minority population in the country. They adhere to their own cultural standards which are more open minded. We only promote the private universities in Malaysia. You will be enjoying a lifestyle very similar to any other Western country.
Cost of the total studies in Malaysia is high?
Not true. Typical course fee for a total three year program (excluding Medicine) will be about Rs. 4.5 million. The cost of living will be Rs. 1.8 million. So the total cost of finishing a complete program will be Rs. 6.3 million. Comparatively the annual course fee and the cost of living in a Western country (Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, and USA) will be approximately Rs.7 million. So you can complete a whole course in Malaysia for the one year fee of a Western country. Without having to work part time.
The degree certificate in Malaysia is not well recognized in Sri Lanka?
Not true. Some popular Malaysian universities have very large alumina societies in Sri Lanka. They conduct regular events because of their size and income. Some graduates even work for government organizations in Sri Lanka, since the degrees are Sri Lanka government recognized.
